Retreat: “Advent Flowering in the Desert”, Saturday, December 3 at 9:00 a.m.
The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom. ~ Isaiah 35:1
It has been said that the wilderness holds answers to questions you have not yet learned to ask. In your life’s journey, you need to have times in the desert, to experience the deep insight into yourself and the world around you. If you quiet your soul and look about you, you will find abundant and awesome beauty. The desert, however, is not without its danger, loneliness, isolation, and fear. It is here that the questions of your innermost heart emerge. At its deepest level a time in the desert increases your awareness of the reverential presence of God. This Advent retreat, with its three meditations, beckons you to draw inward into the desert of your heart and invites you to new discoveries, new growth, as a desert flower that finds a place to root and grow in unexpected joy. Led by The Rev. Ginny Sheay, mother of Calvary’s own Wendy Sheay, she will share a time of reflection and prayer in the spirit of the Advent season. Ginny is a well-known retreat leader whose wisdom, wit, and deep spirituality will bring much to our time together.
Please make this a time to prepare for Christmas in the right way. All are welcome!
